Agricultural commodity bulk warehouse and logistics facility in Central Asia

Our Story

Central Asia Bulk Products was founded with a clear vision: to unlock the vast agricultural potential of Central Asia for the global market. The story began over a decade ago when our founding team — experienced commodity traders and logistics professionals with deep knowledge of the Kazakhstan and Russia agricultural sectors — identified a critical gap in the market. Central Asian farms were producing world-class grains and oilseeds, but international buyers struggled to access these products due to the region's landlocked geography, complex cross-border logistics, and unfamiliar business practices.

Our founders set out to build the infrastructure, relationships, and expertise needed to bridge that gap. Starting with barley and wheat exports from Kazakhstan's northern grain belt, we gradually expanded our product range to include peas, flaxseed, safflower seed, sunflower oil, and safflower oil. Each new product line was added only after we had secured reliable supply partnerships, validated quality control processes, and proven the logistics chain from origin to destination.

The decision to incorporate in Singapore was strategic. As the world's leading commodity trading hub, Singapore offered the legal framework, banking infrastructure, and international credibility that our global buyer base required. Today, CABULK operates as the international distribution arm of an integrated supply chain that stretches from the steppe farms of Kazakhstan to ports and markets across more than 30 countries.

Basitao: Our China Operations Partner

A key element of our competitive advantage is our sister company, Basitao, which operates on the China side of the supply chain. Based in Alashankou — the busiest rail border crossing between Kazakhstan and China — Basitao handles the critical China-side import operations that form the backbone of our logistics network.

Basitao's capabilities include customs clearance and quarantine processing at the Alashankou border, bonded warehousing in the Alashankou Free Trade Zone, quality inspection and repackaging services, and onward distribution to Chinese domestic buyers or re-export to third countries via Chinese ports. This integrated sister-company structure gives CABULK a level of control over the China corridor that few competing trading houses can match.

The CABULK-Basitao partnership means that our buyers benefit from a single point of accountability across the entire supply chain — from the farm gate in Kazakhstan to the discharge port in their home country. There are no handoffs to unfamiliar third parties, no gaps in quality oversight, and no information black holes between origin and destination.

Sustainability Commitments

We recognise that sustainable practices are not optional in modern agricultural commodity trading — they are a business imperative and a responsibility to future generations. Our sustainability commitments span three pillars:

  • Responsible sourcing: We prioritise partnerships with producers who practise sustainable farming methods, including crop rotation, minimal chemical inputs, and soil conservation. Kazakhstan's dryland farming systems are inherently lower-impact than intensively irrigated agriculture, with significantly lower water footprints per tonne of grain produced.
  • Efficient logistics: Rail transport — our primary logistics mode — is among the most carbon-efficient means of moving bulk commodities overland. By optimising load factors, minimising empty backhauls, and consolidating shipments, we continuously reduce the per-tonne carbon footprint of our supply chain.
  • Waste reduction: Our quality control processes and modern storage facilities minimise post-harvest losses. Proper temperature management, pest control, and timely dispatch ensure that the commodities we handle reach buyers in optimal condition, reducing waste throughout the chain.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our sustainability performance and welcome dialogue with buyers, certifiers, and industry bodies on best practices for responsible Central Asian commodity sourcing.

Our Vision for the Future

Central Asia's role in global agriculture is growing. Kazakhstan and Russia together account for a significant share of the world's wheat, barley, flaxseed, and oilseed production — and their exportable surpluses are increasing as domestic farming practices modernise and infrastructure investments mature.

We see CABULK at the forefront of this growth. Our vision is to expand our product portfolio, deepen our geographic reach into emerging markets in Africa and Latin America, and invest in digital supply chain tools that bring greater transparency and efficiency to every transaction. As the Belt and Road Initiative continues to enhance connectivity between Central Asia and the rest of the world, we are positioned to be the partner of choice for buyers seeking reliable, compliant, and competitive access to this increasingly important supply origin.
